Our School Day

The school gate opens at 8.40am. School finishes at 3.20pm for Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 and 3.30pm for Key Stage 2. Registration is between 8.50am and 8.55am.

Morning Break Time

10.40 - 10.55am

Lunch

Children in Foundation and Key Stage 1 have lunch at 11.50am and are entitled to a free hot lunch. Lunchtime begins at 12pm. We provide a hot meal service through Fresh Start Catering. Alternatively, children may bring a packed lunch. Lunchtimes for all end at 1.00pm.

2.20 - 2.30pm

Getting to School

To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. If you do need to travel by car, please park wisely and not in front of the main gates where there are yellow zig-zag lines. There is parking available at The Maltsters car park.

Drop-Off and Collection

At the beginning of the school day, all children are welcomed into school via the front gate. Children are encouraged to walk into school on their own and to put away their belongings. This helps to build independence from the start. The class teacher and teaching assistants will be ready and waiting in the classroom and will direct children to a short morning task to prepare them for learning. 

Children in Reception and Year 1 are collected from the playground outside their classrooms. The children will be handed over by an adult to their parent or carer. Children in Years 2 to 6 are collected from the front entrance of the school. Year 2 children will also be handed over to parents, one at a time. Class teachers are always available at the end of the school day for informal meetings or chats with parents or carers.
